The popular Tamil TV debate show, 'Neeya Naana', has often courted controversy with its outrageous content. The talk show is in the eye of the storm once again after a promo of its latest episode, which discussed if Keralite girls were prettier than their Tamilian counterparts, was taken off the air after widespread criticism and complaints.
The show, which was scheduled for Sunday afternoon on Vijay TV, was not telecast due to the widespread opposition on social media.
After the channel put up a poll on social media with regard to the topic, many criticized them for choosing a topic that normalized the objectification of women. On Saturday night, the channel took down all promos and on Sunday, the episode was not aired at the regular time slot.
The director of Neeya Naana, Anthony, took to Facebook and said that following a police complaint against the show, they were forced to pull back the controversial episode. However, the channel is yet to come out with an official statement regarding the same.
