Oftentimes, we assume speaking English – much less speaking good English – is a sign of intelligence and mock those who are not fluent in the language. For the same reason, the lack of fluency in English often brings in a lot of embarrassment to celebrities who are scrutinized by the media and public for anything and everything.
Recently, actor Jayaram had to face such an embarrassment when a news reporter asked him to speak in English for a question on Jellikattu. But interestingly, the actor handled the situation with much grace. The query was put to him after he spoke about cattle slaughter in Spain. As Jayaram began to explain it in Tamil, the reporter insisted that he should speak in English. The actor swiftly bailed himself out of the situation and called out for his son Kalidas.
"I think my son can say a little more about this for you," Jayaram said, asking Kalidas to take over. And there he was, standing next to his father, taking up the reins and explaining things better.
The filial bond between the father and the son has attracted hundreds of compliments on the social media and people are all praises for the way Jayaram dealt with the situation.
