Matching Rakshit Shetty's performance in the original version will be a huge challenge for Nivin in Richie.One of most anticipated Tamil movie of the year, Richie, starring Nivin Pauly, will hit the screens on December 8. The film, which is a remake of critically acclaimed Kannada film Ulidvaru Kandanthe directed by Rakshit Shetty, had begun the production in June 2016.
Apart from Nivin Pauly, Richie will have Natarajan Subramaniam, Ashok Selvan, Shraddha Srinath and Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli in the lead roles.
Gautham Ramachandran, the director, who worked on the script had made 40 drafts to change the original screenplay to fit in with the Tamil environs.
The noir film will be a huge challenge for the Nivin Pauly as he will have to match or go beyond the blitzkrieg performance of Rakshit Shetty in the original version, which was a commercial success as well, to save his face.
The film was first titled Santa Maria and later changed to Avargal. The makers eventually settled on the title Richie.
