Pankaayam is a brilliantly created short movie The eerie strain and the vibrant beauty of pristine nature are well balanced.

As short films continue to excel in terms of concept and craft here is the latest example in 'Pankaayam,' directed by Bibil Varghese.

The 8.47-minute long movie transcends aesthetics of short films and awes audience with its captivating course.

The story revolves around four friends who are holidaying on a remote land by the side of a river. While two of them fall for the enticing calls of a boatman to go across the river to the other side to get what they were in quest of, the other two stay back.

However, things turn murky as the two youngsters, who don't know how to swim, discover that the boatman was not in good humor and the oar he was using was a fake one.

What deserves applause first is the scale of the visual feat and the effort to pursue it to the fullest. The boat journey, the underwater scenes, the aerial shots and the events are seamlessly weaved and follow story line closely.

Acting, dialogues and editing are awesome. Music, though ceases before it's fully cherished towards the climax, deserves a special mention.
