Malayalam actor Vijayan Peringode passed away on Wednesday after a cardiac arrest.
Filmmaker Jis Joy, who directed the superhit Asif Ali-starrer Sunday Holiday, took to Facebook to mourn the loss of the veteran actor. He noted that the departed actor will be remembered for his arresting personality.
Joy wrote, “It was Vijayettan’s face which would often come to my mind whenever I do TV commercials which has a local flavour. We lost an incredible human being, which is rare in cinema, to cardiac arrest. He enjoyed amazing friendship with everyone, from the oned who do the smallest jobs on a movie set to superstar Rajnikanth who occasionally visits Peringode for ayurvedic treatment. He had an exciting personality and would always leave a smile on the listeners' face whenever he talks. Every loss is deeply painful. For me it feels like the huge tree with strong roots on my courtyard has fallen. I am sure that all those who know him personally would be feeling the same.”
Vijayan began his career in the film industry as a production executive which eventually paved his way to silver screen in 1983 with the PN Menon movie Asthram.
He had acted in more than 40 films and was mostly seen in the movies of Sathyan Anthikad and Lal Jose. Some of the popular movies he was part of are Oppam, Meesha Madhavan, Kilichundan Maambazham, Pattalam, Celluliod and Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu.
