Kochi: A day after he retired as Kerala police chief, T.P. Senkumar on Saturday questioned the way the police team probing the sensational actress attack case grilled actor Dileep and filmmaker Nadhirshah.
Taking a dig at the cops for the 13-hour questioning, Senkumar said interrogation should not be aimed at Guinness world records.
Senkumar was answering questions at Nere Chovve, a chat show on Manorama News.
Dileep and his friend Nadhirshah were questioned at Aluva police club from Wednesday noon to midnight after the former's name cropped up in connection with the case in which a Kerala-based south Indian actress was waylaid and harassed in a moving car in February.
Lambasts Thachankary
Senkumar lambasted ADGP Tomin J Thachankary with whom he had a bitter relationship during his service days.
Responding to controversies related to Thachankary's appointment at the police headquarters during Senkumar's second stint as police chief, the IPS officer said the government should have appointed a smarter official if their aim was to rein him in.
"The government picked a butcher instead of a neurosurgeon," he said.
'Netto haunted me'
Senkumar alleged that chief secretary Nalini Netto haunted him. He said Netto made corrections in files relating to Jisha murder case and Puttingal temple tragedy. He was removed from the post of DGP in charge of law and order by Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government citing lapses in probe into these cases.
He said Netto might have acted against him under the wrong impression that he was instrumental in the appointment of S.M. Vijayananad as chief secretary.
Senkumar said CPM Kannur district secretary P. Jayarajan might have urged the government to remove him from the post of police chief.
"He might have had grudge against me in connection with the probe into T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case," Senkumar said.
Senkumar retired from service on Saturday after a brief second stint of 55 days as police chief. He returned to the top post with the support of a Supreme Court order which annulled the Kerala government's decision to remove him.
