Shanti who was found dead in Dubai.Dubai: A Keralite nurse has been found dead at her residence here under mysterious circumstances, with her family suspecting domestic violence as the reason for the untimely death.
The deceased has been identified as Shanti, 30, daughter of K.V. Thomas, aka, Raju Kottapuzhakal. Raju, a CPM leader, is former vice-president of Payippadu panchayat near Changanassery.
Shanti was found hanging in her house.
Her family has alleged domestic violence and sought a probe. They have lodged a complaint with the chief minister and district police chief. The Dubai police have already registered a case in connection with the incident.
Raju said his daughter had complained of torture by her husband Antony Joseph. “My daughter had been complaining for the past two months that Joseph was assaulting her for no reason. She had also been calling friends seeking help,” he said.
Joseph and Shanti were married four years ago. She went to Dubai two years back and joined the Emirates Hospital there only a month ago. Her three-year-old daughter, Ann Maria, stays in Kerala with her family. Joseph, who hails from Thathampalli in Alappuzha district, is employed at the Burj Al Arab hotel.
Shanti's mother Geetha is a former member of Payippad grama panchayat. Shanti has two siblings – Nimmy and Alan.
