Thirurvananthapuram: Though Malayalam actor Dileep was the under cloud of suspicion from the beginning, there wasn't any solid evidence to implicate him initially. It was reportedly a secret phone number used by Dileep that led to his arrest.
The main accused in the case, Pulsar Suni, had passed on some crucial information to the police on film fraternity. However, he did not reveal any names.
During this time, Dileep approached Kerala police chief Loknath Behera with the complaint that someone was trying to blackmail him. Following which, the police started monitoring Dileep's and Suni's movements.
The police were able to collect details of Dileep's calls to wife Kavya Madhavan, manager Appunni and brother Anoop. It was then that they realized that Dileep was using another secret number to make some private calls. This number was used to make calls with people, who had no links to cinema or his family. The police then questioned the people called by Dileep and got crucial information, leading to his arrest.
The 48-year-old Dileep, charged with conspiracy in the sensational case, was sent to 14 days judicial custody by a court in Angamaly Tuesday morning.
