The Women in Cinema Collective has come out demanding action against Poonjar MLA, P.C. George, for his insensitive comments against an actress who was attacked in a moving car in Kochi on February 17.
George, who has been repeatedly coming up with insinuating comments and remarks on the attacked woman, hit the headlines again this time with the sly remark that the actress was lying on the brutalities she went through. In a press meet at Alappuzha Monday, he had raised aspersions on how she could go to work immediately after being subjected to such gruesome torture.
The collective of Mollywood actresses, in a Facebook post, has now sought action against the legislator for irresponsible and misogynistic comments unbecoming of his official position. They have requested the Kerala Assembly speaker to look into the matter and take the necessary action against the independent MLA, adding that they suspected if this was a conspiracy to help the accused in the case.
In the press meet, the leader had said that the version presented by the attacked actress or the police investigating the case was not convincing. He also made a claim that what was happening was misandry. He further drummed up his chest-thumping, adding that he would not go anywhere to give evidence in the case.
George had managed to stay in the limelight making scattered remarks about the incident pointing fingers at the brutalized woman and justifying the accused, discovering his own versions of conspiracies in the case. He had also claimed he had proof to show accused actor Dileep was being framed in the case.
