Rescue operations carried out after a flight skidded off the runway at karipur airportKozhikode: A major tragedy was averted after the pilot of a SpiceJet flight from Bengaluru managed to control the craft which careened off the runway on landing at the Calicut international airport, Karipur, near here on Friday morning. Ground safety and landing crew heaved a sigh of relief as information was forthcoming that all the 60 passengers onboard were safe.
Runway guiding lights were damaged when the flight slightly moved towards the left side while landing.
The pilot managed to bring the flight to the terminal safely with no injuries to the passengers or crew, sources said. Airport fire and rescue services and paramedics were rushed to the runway to face any eventuality.
