Remya Nambeesan at Aluva police club on SIT summons Remya Nambeesan

Kochi: Six months after a young actress was brutally attacked in a moving car in Kochi, the special investigation team (SIT) probing the case questioned Malayalam actress Remya Nambeesan Thursday.

A close friend of the victim, Remya had time and again voiced her support for the young actress. Her statement was recorded at the Aluva police club, where many film personalities earlier faced police interrogation.

After actor Dileep was arrested for plotting the February 17 attack, Remya had said the arrest was indeed a historic moment.

She had also said that it was victory for the actress as it was her decision to fight. She had also thanked the Kerala police for their meticulous probe. However, the victim actress had reportedly never named Dileep or referred to his involvement in the case.

Dileep, charged under various sections of the IPC, including for hatching criminal conspiracy for abduction and assault on the actress in a moving car on February 17, is currently lodged in a jail in his home town Aluva.

In his bail plea submitted to the Kerala HC, Dileep had submitted that there was a 'large-scale conspiracy' hatched by a small but powerful section of film industry and certain others who could manage police, media and political leaders to spread 'utter falsehood and malicious stories' about him for months together.

It ultimately resulted in his being implicated and arraigned as accused in the case about three months after the submission of the final report against the accused in the actress abduction and molestation case, the actor submitted.
