Dileep akin to 'King Liar': prosecution opposes actor's bail plea Malyalam actor Dileep in 'King Liar' movie. File photo: PTI

Kochi: Sticking to the conspiracy theory in the February 17 actress attack, the prosecution on Wednesday said that there was more evidence against embattled actor Dileep, an accused in the case.

"How come Dileep's and main accused Pulsar Suni's phones were under the same mobile tower frequently. There is more evidence against the actor. Dileep is like 'King Liar' (name of the actor's movie)," the prosecution argued as the court was considering the actor's bail plea Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, the defense lawyer of the actor, who was arrested for allegedly plotting the attack, trained guns at state police chief Loknath Behera. Noted lawyer B. Raman Pillai refuted the police version that the actor took rather a long time to lodge the complaint against Pulsar Suni, the prime accused in the case, who tried to blackmail him. The lawyer reiterated the actor's stand that he had forwarded to Behera, a copy of the letter Suni had sent to him from the jail, the very same day he received it.

As the counsel's argument could not be completed Tuesday, the hearing continued on Wednesday too. The court will again consider Dileep's bail plea Friday.

Dileep's counsel had Tuesday argued that Dileep was being crucified by the police based on a thief's confession. He said that main accused Pulsar Suni's accusation that the actor plotted the February 17 assault was just one of the many tales fabricated by the remanded habitual offender.

The counsel contended each of the arguments by the police, and alleged that they were trying to make false witnesses in the case.

The HC had dismissed the actor's earlier bail application on July 24 after finding that the probe into the case was progressing and the mobile phone, which the prosecution stated as a key evidence in the case, had not been recovered.

The actor later approached the HC again and in his fresh plea submitted that the scenario had completely changed and that he was not the kingpin of any criminal conspiracy or even a participant in it. Dileep was arrested on July 10 for allegedly hiring goons to abduct the actress and videotape the harassment.
