Kochi: Kerala police chief Loknath Behera on Sunday directed the city police commissioner to conduct a detailed inquiry into the case in which an Uber driver was assaulted by three women.

The DGP said the police will probe the allegation that the women were charged with minor offenses only despite causing severe injuries to the driver.

Shefeeq was assaulted by the women, all hailing from Kannur, following a dispute over seat sharing.

Manorama News had on Saturday aired visuals of the assault. In the video, the women are seen assaulting the driver despite some onlookers trying to stop them.

An eye witness had also revealed that the women resorted to violence without any provocation.
