Rescue operations spearheaded by the Navy, Air Force and the Coast Guard may be redirected according to these latest inputs which has been arrived at after reviewing the current wind directions.
The wind has been blowing in the north-west direction since November 30, when Cyclone Ockhi emerged.
The cyclone has also impacted the undercurrents in the sea affecting its direction.
Several fishermen from outside Kerala, including Kanyakumari, were swept ashore to the state's shores by this wind.
Same was the case with fishermen from north Kerala who had ventured out into the high sea and ended up in the Maharashtra shores.

People who are used to fishing in the sea for decades also shared their thoughts with the authorities.
Many of them said that search with ordinary boats is of no use now, since the wind would have swept the fishing boats quite far.
Their inputs are also being taken into active consideration in extending the search outside the Indian maritime borders.
