Ernakulam: It is my daughter who should get justice, not her murderer, cried out Jisha's mother in an emotional outburst after the court heard the final arguments in the sensational rape and murder case at Perumbavoor on Wednesday.
She was shouting at criminal lawyer B A Aloor, representing convict Ameer ul-Islam who brutally raped and murdered the 30-year-old law student, Jisha, at her home in 2016.
The Ernakulam principal district and sessions court on Wednesday witnessed this emotional scene as Jisha's mother lambasted Aloor.
As the criminal lawyer was telling the reporters that the government was trying to make the accused a 'scapegoat' in the case, Jisha's mother burst on to the scene and cried out that it was her daughter who should be getting justice.
"My child was killed, she should be getting justice and not her murderer," she shouted out while making wild gestures.
Two women police personnel then escorted the furious woman away from Aloor but she kept repeating that the accused, Ameer ul-Islam, should be hanged.
The court had on Tuesday found Ameer guilty of raping and murdering the law student. A post-mortem report revealed that Jisha had sustained at least 30 injuries, including on her private parts. The court will pronounce the quantum of punishment Thursday.
