Kuttippuram, Malappuram: Days after live explosives were recovered under a railway bridge, a Special Investigation Team on Thursday recovered nearly 440 ordnance-grade bullets from the locality.

The police are inspecting the bullets that are used in SLR rifles.

On January4, some five metal containers with the suspected explosive substance, two metal parts and six gunny bags were found scattered on the sandbanks beneath the bridge across the Bharathapuzha.

The containers had the wordings 'FRONT TOWARD ENEMY.'

The police said the objects looked like landmines and the gunny bags were in military green color.

Some local people tipped the police about the presence of the objects under the bridge Thursday evening. The bomb disposal squad then took possession of the objects.
