Sam Abraham murder: Keralite woman, lover found guilty Arun Kamalasanan (accused), Sam Abraham (victim) and his wife (accused)

Melbourne: A Keralite woman, Sofia, and her paramour, Arun Kamalasanan, have been found guilty of murdering her husband, Sam Abraham, at their home in Epping in October 2015. The Supreme Court jury in Melbourne delivered the verdict on Wednesday afternoon.

A UAE Exchange employee, Sam Abraham, 34, from Punalur was found dead at his Epping house in England on October 13, 2015. After convincing family members and relatives that Sam died due to a heart attack, his wife Sofia brought Sam’s mortal remains to Kerala and after conducting the funeral went back to Melbourne along with their son.

She, along with her lover Arun Kamalasanan, was arrested 10 months later on August 12, 2016. It is alleged that Sofia killed Sam by giving him orange juice spiked with cyanide. The toxicology report found excessive presence of cyanide in Sam's blood and liver.

The court has deferred further hearing in the case to March 21.
