Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Human Rights Commission has sought the opinion of the government on the need for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of Gauri Neha, a student of Trinity Lyceum School in Kollam.
Commission member K Mohankumar has sought a response within two weeks. The case will be considered at a sitting on March 5 at Kollam.
Gauri's parents R Prasanna Kumar and Shali had in their complaint rejected the argument that their daughter had committed suicide. Gauri, a class 10 student, died after falling from the second floor of the school building on October 20 last year.
Earlier this month, the principal of the school was sacked.
The decision to sack Chevalier John came after the school once again courted a controversy when it welcomed back two teachers suspended for their role in the death of Gauri with a cake-cutting ceremony.
The teachers were suspended after Gauri reportedly jumped off the third floor of the school building in 2017 over alleged harassment by them.

Gauri Neha died on October 20 last year.
