Kannur: A scene from Abrid Shine’s hit film ‘Action Hero Biju’ was played out in real life in Kannur when a DySP who is part of the team investigating the Shuhaib murder was showered with abuse on his official wireless set.
The police officer is known for his pro CPM views. But, unlike the film, the source of the swear words has not been identified in real life and the Special Branch has launched a probe.
In ‘Action Hero Biju’, the wireless set lands in the hands of drunkard owing to the carelessness of cop, setting off a host of problems. However, in Kannur, it happened during the routine calls made to all the police stations by the district police chief in the morning.
Every day, between 7.30 am and 8.30 am, the police chief calls all police stations and inquires about the complaints, cases registered, arrests and summons issued during the previous 24 hours. On days when the SP is unavailable, the ASP or any of the DySPs would make the call. Though only the senior officer and the subordinate would be talking at a time, all other officers who have switched on their wireless sets can hear the conversation.
On Sunday morning, the SP was out of station and so the morning calls were made by the DySP. While he had finished collecting details from the Maloor station, somebody interfered and showered the DySP with abuse. Though a preliminary probe was conducted by officers at the control room in the district police headquarters, they could not identify the wireless set from which the abuse came.
