Thiruvananthapuram: Excise commissioner Rishiraj Singh has ordered a probe on a complaint filed by four female employees over a porn video clip that is doing the rounds on a WhatsApp group of excise officers in the state capital.
Excise vigilance SP T Ramachandran, who is conducting the probe, took the statements of the four complainants. Since the complaint also mentions the mobile phone number from which the clip was sent, the culprit won't be able to go scot-free, said employees.
Earlier, a complaint submitted to the excise deputy commissioner was torn into pieces by employee union leaders who owe allegiance to the ruling party.
The WhatsApp group, which has all the excise employees in the state capital, is controlled by three district leaders of the union. Earlier too, similar clips were circulated in the group. When female employees questioned this, they were told by the leaders that since they are now married and have kids they shouldn't bother about such things.
Now, when four female civil officers raised their voice, they were removed from the group.
The leaders who manage the group work in the offices of the additional excise commissioner, the Thiruvananthapuram deputy commissioner and the intelligence bureau assistant excise commissioner. Hence, they managed to sabotage the earlier complaint, said the complaint submitted to the commissioner.
Though the four complainants have not given their names, their mobile numbers have been mentioned in the complaint. If a proper examination is carried out, all details of the clip, like its source and the time it was sent, can be easily found.
The mobile number of the person who sent the clip and the name of the three leaders who support the man are also provided in the complaint. If the latest complaint too is sabotaged, the female employees plan to approach the women's commission.
They have also pointed out in the complaint that if their names were disclosed they could be transferred to faraway places. They have given the example of eight women employees who were transferred after they filed harassment complaints.
