Sanu Chacko, the main accused in the Kevin (L) murder case, was nabbed from Kannur on Tuesday.Kottayam: The voice records of the phone call between a cop at the Gandhinagar police station here and the abductors of Kottayam youth Kevin, who was murdered in a suspected case of honour killing, and his relative Aneesh are out. The call was made at 5.35 am on Sunday. It is believed the call was made after Kevin died.
Kevin was abducted on Sunday and killed by a gang of criminals allegedly engaged by his fiancee Neenu's family. His body was found in a river in Kollam district Monday. Neenu's brother Sanu Chacko, main accused, was arrested by the police from Kannur on Tuesday.
Neenu had alleged laxity on the part of the police when she approached the Gandhinagar police station with a missing complaint earlier.
The phone transcript accessed by Manorama points fingers at the erring police officer.
Call transcript:
Sanu (Neenu's bother ): Speak sir. He (Kevin) has escaped from our hands. He would have come there.
Police: Where did he escape? Did he escape after reaching there?
Sanu: He escaped somewhere. I don't know. I had gone in another vehicle. He (Aneesh) knows that. I don't want to spoil my future. We want our kid (sister Neenu). I have a request to you sir. We made a mistake. It can't be justified. We will hand over Anish safely to you. Ok? If we have destroyed anything at home (Kevin's) we will pay the damages. Ok?
Police: TV has been damaged. Even the door was broken.
Sanu: That we will take care of. Will pay some money. Will hand over contact number to him (Kevin's kin). Talk to kid (Neenu) and return her if it is possible. I will hold your feet.
Police: I will do whatever I can, Sanu.
Sanu: I have a family. I married only six months ago.
Police: I will do whatever I can.
Sanu: Ok.
