Being careless can cost one dearly and Indian tennis star Leander Paes' estranged partner Rhea Pillai has found out the bitter truth. The former model has been locked in a legal battle with Paes over domestic violence and maintenance of their 10-year-old daughter.
Terming Paes an absentee father, Pillai had moved the court asking for a compensation of Rs 1 crore. But, her lawyers left out a zero in her court petition for compensation for domestic violence, bringing the amount down from Rs 1 crore to Rs 10 lakh!
Pillai's lawyers Gunjan Mangla and Amna Usman raised the issue of the missing zero at the Bandra Magistrate Court on Tuesday.
They made the error in an interim application filed to seek compensation until the case is over.
The case was filed in 2014 after Paes sought sole custody of the child, while Pillai claimed that she should stay with her. In July, the Supreme Court had ordered the Mumbai court to decide on the case within six months.
