The Men in Blue were outplayed by New Zealand in the second Twenty20 International at Rajokot but that that did not prevent the Indian players from celebrating skipper Virat Kohli's birthday. Kohli turned 29 on Sunday and celebrated with his teammates following the game.
The teammates smeared a cake on his face and hair as part of the birthday bash.
Meanwhile, wishes poured in from across the globe with people from all walks of life wishing him good luck. Former and present Indian cricketers, in addition to players from other countries too tweeted their greetings.
New Zealand rode on Colin Munro's unbeaten 109 off 58 balls to set up a formidable total of 196/2 at Rajkot.
Despite Kohli hitting a fine 65, India went down by 40 runs as the Kiwis squared the three-match series 1-1.
The decider will be played in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.
