Shashi Tharoor pitches for India-West Indies ODI in TVPM Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced Thiruvananthapuram as the venue, the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) changed it to Kochi.

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Monday demanded Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) not to transfer the India-West Indies One-Day International (ODI) from a match-ready Thiruvananthapuram stadium to Kochi.

Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced Thiruvananthapuram as the venue, the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) changed it to Kochi. The match is to be held on November 1.

Tharoor said he spoke to Committee of Administrators (CoA) chief, Vinod Rai, to denounce KCA's decision to transfer the venue from Thiruvananthapuram to Kochi.

“He (Vinod Rai) has promised to review the matter. KCA motives highly suspect(sic),” Tharoor wrote in a Facebook post.

The KCA had written to the BCCI Fixtures Committee expressing interest to host an ODI following the successful conduct of the India-New Zealand T20 match last year. It was following this that Thiruvananthapuram was announced as one of the venues for the West Indies tour. However, the KCA has the authority to change the venue.

The KCA’s stand is that both international venues in Kerala should get matches to host. Since the last international match, a T20I, was held at Thiruvananthapuram, the KCA is keen to host the upcoming match in Kochi.
