Governor Arif Mohammed Khan was responding to a query on SFI activists burning his effigy on New Year's Eve.
The 30-foot effigy was burned on New Year's Eve as part of SFI’s ongoing protest against the Governor for his alleged attempts to saffronise state universities by appointing pro-BJP members.
SFI activists had staged a black flag protest against the Governor after he reached the state capital from Delhi on Thursday for the swearing-in ceremony of the two new ministers.

All eyes are on the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), which recently drew a series of demonstrations against the governor alleging his attempt to 'saffronise the educational institutions' of the state.
According to the FIR put by the police, Adeen placed a pair of black sunglasses on the statue of Mahatma Gandhi installed inside the college campus on December 21.
Though police took Nidhin into custody immediately after the incident, DYFI and SFI activists, under the leadership of CPM Chalakudy area secretary K S Asokan, forcefully freed him.
The Left student outfit stated that the Sangh Parivar nominees would never be allowed into the hall where the Senate is meeting, and they assert that this stance will be implemented.
There is also criticism that the Governor is constantly violating protocol.
The ongoing row between the SFI and the Governor in the state has been witnessing dramatic scenes starting with the student outfit's activists allegedly attacking Khan's vehicle last week and putting up banners in Calicut University calling him a 'sanghi', while he retaliated by calling them 'bullies', 'criminals' and 'goondas'.
