The Kerala Government has invited tenders for holding the social impact study in the 11 districts through which the rail line will be laid.
Here is the list of trains cancelled and partially affected.
Since the coronavirus-triggered lockdown was eased, the Railways has been running only special trains.
After the announcement of relaxation in lockdown restrictions, the railways granted permission for travelling without reservation upto 40 per cent to 50 per cent in express trains.
The change applies to several popular trains including Guruvayur – Thiruvananthapuram Intercity Express and Ernakulam – Thiruvananthapuram Vanchinad Express, among others.
It is unclear if the torrential downpour the two states have witnessed on Sunday has any bearing on these cancellations.
The Railway has extended the services of 10 fully-reserved special trains.
Ever since Kottayam station started, this will be the first time that an express service has begun in Kottayam’s name.
Thiruvananthapuram-Punalur unreserved special train will be the first to become operational along the route starting October 6.
With the launch of the train service to Bodinayakannur, tourists can easily visit the tourist spots of the Idukki district.
