OnePlus 3 was launched in India in June 2016 and the latter in November 2016. OnePlus 3 is priced at Rs 27,999 (64 GB) and OnePlus 3T at Rs 29,999 (64 GB) and Rs 34,999 (128 GB).
Both the phones come with a 5.5-inch optic AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 by 1920 pixels at a PPI of 401 pixels per inch. The screen wears a Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The phones run on Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) and could be upgraded to Nougat.
OnePlus 3T is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821. On the other end, OnePlus 3 is loaded with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. Both the models boast of 6 GB of RAM and Adreno 530 GPU. 3T comes in two internal storage options – 64 GB and 128 GB but misses memory card slots for expanding memory.
The 3T has 16 MP cameras at both ends. In both the models, the makers have maintained the same features for the rear camera like f/2.0, face detection auto focus, OIS and LED Flash. On the other end, the 8MP secondary camera of OnePlus 3 has been replaced by a 16 MP front-facing camera in 3T, making it more desirable for selfie lovers.
Connectivity features include WiFi, WiFi Direct, DLNA, hotspot, Bluetooth v4.2, A-GPS, EDGE, GPRS among others. It also comes with front-mounted Fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gyro, proximity sensor and compass.
OnePlus 3 | Photo: OnePlusOnePlus 3T is powered by a 3400 mAh non-removable battery with 'Dash Charge' feature for fast charging. Its dash charge feature can charge 60% in half an hour. The model is available in gunmetal, soft gold and midnight black (special edition) colors.
Quick comparison
Compared to OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T has a few major updates. The first one is selfie camera and the second, an improved battery. 3T is loaded with a 16MP front-facing camera as against the 8MP front-facing camera seen in the predecessor model.
While the prior model is loaded with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, this gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor – a slightly upgraded version.
As far as battery life is concerned, 3T boasts of its 3400 mAh battery which is far superior to the 3000 mAh battery of OnePlus 3.

Writer’s opinion
Many features like screen size, resolution, and rear camera, are similar in both the models. The major difference is in the battery and the front-facing camera. Another slight improvement is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. Other features remain the same.
3000 mAh battery of 3 is big enough and offers decent span. The 8 MP secondary camera was the major flaw of OnePlus 3 which has now been corrected with 3T. So, consider upgrading to this model only if you want to get better selfies. Except for this, OnePlus 3 would fit fine for normal use.
