New Delhi: Five civil service aspirants who would have missed the chance to write the civil service mains exam as their graduation results got delayed breathed a sigh of relief when the Supreme Court intervened to allow them relaxation.

They can now attend the main exams that begin on 16 September. In order to write the main exams, the candidates were required to submit their results before 5 July.

However, as the publication of the results got delayed, five students who studied in Delhi University and Kurukshetra University approached the apex court.

The bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud allowed the relaxation by considering the fact that these candidates had passed the preliminary exams. However, the court noted that the final results would be based strictly based on the guidelines.
