The 1-minute 30-seconds video reminds us of many scenes from CharlieDulquer Salmaan-starrer Charlie was one of the highest grossing Mollywood movies of 2015. Besides the huge box office success, the film won eight awards in the Kerala State Film Awards 2016. Later, the remake rights of the movie were sold in three languages, including Tamil, Marathi and Bengali.
Recently, the teaser of its Marathi version was released online and has been trending on Youtube ever since its release. Titled Deva Chi Maya, the movie stars Ankush Chaudhari, Tejaswini Pandit and Spruha Joshi in lead roles.
The movie, which was originally directed by Martin Prakkat and penned by Unni R., is directed by Murali Nallappa in Marathi.
Although the one-minute 30-second video reminds us of many scenes from Charlie, the teaser has not gone down too well with many Malayalam viewers. While a few say the movie is a 'carbon copy' of the original, many termed it as a 'dishonor to the Malayalam movie'.
