Actor Nyla Usha is someone who cemented her space in Malayalam filmdom within a short span of time with solid performances in some good films. With her looks, style, and acting skills, she has endeared herself to a large Malayali audience.
When Onmanorama caught up with the actor to know what her name meant, she revealed the story behind her name.
"'Nyla' is the name of a lady which my father liked very much. I don't know if she was his girlfriend at all," Nyla said in reply to Onmanorama's Just One Question (JOQ).
However, Nayla's mother didn't like the gesture and raised objection. "My father chose my mother's maiden name - Usha – as my second name. So, it's Nyla Usha," the actress quipped.
After working as RJ in Dubai for years, Nyla entered Malayalam films through Kunjananthante Kada playing the lead role opposite Mammootty.
She played the female lead in the recently released film Diwanjimoola Grand Prix directed by Anil Radhakrishnan Menon.
