Pranav Mohanlal’s Aadhi was one of the recent movies that have been featured on piracy websites.Thiruvananthapuram: Adding to the woes of film producers, more than ten latest movies including Pranav Mohanlal’s Aadhi and the Mammootty-starrer Masterpiece have been featured on the piracy sites.
Flouting the ban of such sites by the Kerala police, more such plaforms are being operated in the IP addresses from foreign countries. Recently, the latest movies were spotted on the notorious website Tamil Rockers, which had earlier come under fire for piracy.
It is reported that many piracy sites garner huge amounts of money through advertisements by buffering the latest Malayalam movies. While Aadhi is running to packed theaters, the pirated version of the movie is available on the internet as well. More than sixty thousand viewers have reportedly watched the movie on the Tamil Rockers website.
Two months ago, the Tamil Rockers website which is the most prominent piracy site, was blocked as a result of the information provided by the Kerala police. But the website is back with the pirated versions of almost all the latest Malayalam movies.
The website currently functions with a slight change in its IP address and the site says that it is hosted by the server of a company named Enforce registered in Netherlands.
The piracy website features hit Malayalam movies like Mayaanadhi, Queen and Aadhi, besides more than 50 movies in Tamil and Hindi.
The authorities have not been able to disable the functioning of these piracy websites or delete the latest movies from it. It is reported that the Tamil Rockers have made an income of a whopping 18 lakhs rupees per month by screening the pirated copies of latest movies.
There are unofficial reports that the piracy websites are able to generate the kind of income in just two or three days, which even the producers are not able to achieve. The police and cyber experts say that the central government should intervene immediately to permanently block these piracy websites.
