Amid contradictory reports on the death of veteran Bollywood actress Sridevi, the late actress' kin and fans continued to send condolences.
Celebrities and those close to the actress also remembered the actress. Meanwhile, Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon, who had worked with Sridevi in the film Laadla released in 1994, also had some curious facts to share.
The film directed by Raj Kanwar, had roped in Sridevi when Divya Bharti, who was doing the lead role met with untimely death after she fell off a balcony of a high rise apartment in Mumbai.
Divya Bharti's rise in Bollywood was meteoric within a short span of time and with her uncanny resemblance to Sridevi, she was considered as a foil to the Chandni star.
It's sheer coincidence, as the actor's fans pointed out on social media, that Divya Bharti's birth anniversary fell on February 25, a day after Sridevi's death. Laadla, a film based on love triangle, has Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Raveena Tandon in the lead.
Raveena Tandon, in an interview to a major national daily recalled a moment which gave goosebumps to all on the sets of the film Laadla. Divya, Shakti Kapoor and Raveena had shot a scene in Aurangabad where Divya fires the two of them and throws them out of office. While shooting the scene Divya got stuck on a particular dialogue constantly. They had several retakes of the scene before it was okayed, she said.
After about six months the shooting of the same scene was resumed with Sridevi doing the role donned by Divya Bharti. There was an eerie feeling when Sridevi too faltered on the same line where Divya Bharti had got stuck earlier.
Shakti Kapoor had asked everyone to chant some devotional incantations, Raveena said and added that she held Sridevi's hand during the prayers. She recalled that they had even broke a coconut before resuming the shooting.
The film Laadla was one of the biggest hit of the year it was released.
