Upcoming Mollywood campus thriller 'Naam' starring Shabareesh Varma, Niranj Suresh, Gayathri Suresh, Aditi Ravi and Mareena, is based on his own life experiences, director Joshy Thomas Pallickal told Onmanorama. The youth movie discusses friendship and how a group of students face a life issue standing together.
“I am an alumnus of SB College, Changanassery. I have always wanted to film a touching but motivating experience that I had during my college life. 'Naam' is a real-life movie based on my own experiences,” he said.
Joshy Thomas Pallickal said that campus politics, romance, and such mainstream aspects of college life have very well been explored in Mollywood but not true, meaningful friendship. “Back when I was an undergraduate student, our batchmates and seniors were mature men, most of them already employed. I think today's campuses have boys and girls rather than men and women. I have tried to portray the campus life in our times, making use of today's tools in 'Naam',” he said.

Actor, lyricist and singer Shabareesh Varma is every where on and off the screen when it comes to 'Naam.' The lead actor has written around seven songs for the movie and has also sang one among them. Commenting on it, Shabareesh says that the movie gave him enough opportunities to unleash his talents.

"I play the role of an affluent campus hero in this movie. Though I myself cannot relate to the character, I find my role similar to one of my classmates when I did B.Com. Quite like in 'Premam', I have written almost seven songs in this movie too. 'Naam' has a good message and some soothing music tracks,” the 'Premam' actor said.
The Thrissur lass Gayathri Suresh, who plays one of the lead characters in the movie, appears in a distinct, stylish look. According to the actor Anna, her character in this movie, is quite similar to her real-life character. “Anna is a vibrant, talkative girl who is quite similar to me. Apart from the rustic roles I've done so far, Anna is a stylish character, who wears modern outfit and speaks in a flamboyant manner,” she said.
The movie will reach the theatres later this month.
