This 'Parava' actor gets busy with his tea shop after school Govind got the chance to act in Parava when he was a 10th standard student at the TD High school in Mattancherry. With his mother at tea shop (right).

Mattancherry: Govind V Pai doesn’t have the airs of an actor whose movie 'Parava' was a super hit, as he shifts crispy hot vadas into a strainer to drain off the excess oil.

His mother Chithra who stands beside him watching her son make some amazing tea time snack says, “He is like this. He will come to help me out here as soon as he is back from the school, and stay on till 11 pm till I close the shop. He does his home works only after that.”

Govind’s mother runs a small make-shift tea shop right beside their house near the Manjabhagavathi temple in Cheralayi. After her husband Vasudeva Pai died 16 years ago, Chithra took care of her family by working as a help, giving post delivery care for women. Later, she opened a tea shop near her home. Govind is the youngest of three kids. His brother Narendra V Pai is getting ready to go for his higher studies after completing plus two, and sister Neethu is married and stays at her husband’s place.

Govind got the chance to act in 'Parava' when he was a 10th standard student at the TD High school in Mattancherry. One day, when Parava’s director Soubin and his friends were having tea at Chithra’s tea shop, Govind came speeding on a bicycle, lost his control and fell down directly in front of the director. Govind says Soubin quickly helped him get up and just asked one question, ‘Will you act in a movie’?

Mattancherry natives Govind V Pai and Amal Shah played the roles of Dulquer Salman’s brothers in the movie. Once the movie got released, the duo became the sweethearts of Kochi. Govind, who doesn’t have any previous experience in acting, says that the entire credit of making him an actor goes to Soubinikka.

“Soubinikka explained the ways in which I should act. There are many new offers coming my way. The shooting of a new movie starring Dulquer in the lead will begin this month. It took almost two years for the filming of Parava to get over. Six months to train the doves and nine months to train us,” says Govind with a smile.

Govind is a plus one student at the TD higher secondary school, and the young actor has decided to pursue his passion for acting while continuing his studies.
