Vinayan’s son Vishnu Vinay portrays the main character of Vishnu Vinay, a law student who lives the high life. ‘History of Joy’ was not always joyful. Vishnu Govindan’s coming-of-age movie follows a spoiled brat who suddenly finds himself in a maze of misfortune.
The namesake protagonist, played by director Vinayan’s son Vishnu Vinay, is a law student who lives the high life. His world comes upside down after he goofs up during a night out. He finds himself an outcast in his family.
Joy Andrews’s ordeal does not end there. The youngster serves the sentence for his crime. His hopes to turn a new chapter are dashed when society and family refuses to shed their perceptions about him.
‘History of Joy’ is a former convict’s attempts to shake off the taboo associated with his past. Vishnu Govindan, who has made an appearance in ‘Oru Mexican Aparatha’ and ‘Villain’, has made a commendable job in his debut as a director.
Vinay Forrt, Joju George, Saikumar, Aparna and Leona Lishoy pep up the movie, which can hardly claim any novelties in scripting and shooting.
The movie touches upon the rampant substance abuse among youngsters and the resultant disintegration of families. The movie is about the gradual maturing of the protagonist in the face of adversity.
