IFFK to host workshop for women filmmakers on Dec 12, 13

Thiruvananthapuram: A two-day workshop, focusing on the empowerment of women in cinema, will be held on 12th and 13th December as part of the 22nd International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).

The workshop is intended for women filmmakers and technicians and to facilitate greater participation of women talent.

Film director Aruna Raje will inaugurate the workshop at 10 am in Apollo Dimora. Documentary director Urmi Juvekar, Judy Gladstone, Geethu Mohandas, Vidhu Vincent, Sanjay Ram, Anshulika Dubey, and Apoorva will participate in the workshop.

An open forum will be conducted as part of the workshop. Directors Anoop Singh, Amit Masurkar, Alessandra Speciale, Jury chairman Marco Muller and Rima Das will attend the workshop on December 13.

The workshop titled 'Empowerment of Women in Cinema workshop' would address funding opportunities, film festival road maps, and film packaging, in addition to master classes by industry veterans.

Festival director and chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, Kamal said, "IFFK has always been geared towards providing a platform to filmmakers. We are happy that this year aspiring women filmmakers and technicians get an added focus."

Around 20 applicants have been selected for the workshop.
