Ready to return financial aid given by Kerala govt: Jishnu’s family Police take away protesters seeking justice for Jishnu. Jayachandran B

Thiruvananthapuram: Toughening their stance, the family members of Jishnu Pranoy on Sunday said that they were ready to return the solatium of Rs 10 lakh provided by the Kerala government.

“We are even ready to give an additional Rs 10 lakh to the government. Nothing will compensate for our loss. It is unfortunate that the police have not arrested a single person in connection with this incident so far,” Jishnu’s father Ashokan told reports on Sunday.

“It is extremely painful when being treated shabbily by the political party that we are loyal to,” he added.

'Larger conspiracy'

The family also alleged that it was part of a larger conspiracy to bring swami Himawal Bhadranananda aka ‘Thokku Swami’ to the venue in a bid to sabotage the agitation.

Jishnu’s uncle Sreejith said that swami Himawal Bhadranananda arrived at the venue in a special vehicle arranged by the police. He also said there was also conspiracy behind the press release issued by the medical college authorities which stated Mahija had consumed fruit juice while observing indefinite fast.

Jishnu’s mother Mahija continued her indefinite fast at the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital for the fifth day even as her condition worsened and was shifted to the ICU.

Meanwhile, Mahila Congress state president Bindu Krishna, political affairs committee member Shanimol Usman, and general secretary Lathika Subhash too began an indefinite hunger strike in front of the Secretariat at 10 am on Sunday to express solidarity with the family of Jishnu, who was found dead at the hostel of Nehru College of Engineering and Research Center, Pampady, on January 6.
