Kozhikode: The CPM-led LDF government in Kerala, which is celebrating its first year in office, on Monday released its progress report on its achievements.

Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan released the progress report at a function here to mark the conclusion of the week-long celebrations of the government's first year in office by handing over a copy of the report to Malayalam film director Ranjith.

A 35-point program was presented in the LDF election manifesto last year.

The progress report analyzed the government's performance vis-a-vis each of the promises made in the election manifesto.

The report claimed that the government had been able to provide employment to 2,13,745 persons in the first year while another 4.58 lakh jobs are expected to be created on the completion of projects which are progressing.

The government had promised to create 10 lakh jobs in five years and provide employment to 25 lakh people.

Government was also able to expand paddy cultivation in barren lands besides vegetables, the report claimed.

It was stated in the LDF manifesto that every year the government's activities would be evaluated and future program would be organized by interacting with the public based on the progress report.

Experts and the general public will be able to make their independent assessment based on the evaluation. Projects that were promised, but were not initiated in the first year have also been mentioned in the progress report.
