Kochi: Kidnapping and blackmailing actresses may be just a tiny part of Sunil Kumar’s job description. The main accused in a case of attacking an actress near Angamaly in February, who also goes by the name Pulsar Suni, could be a member of a hawala racket based in Dubai, sources said.
Suni was no ordinary driver, judging by his connections across the cinema industry. He might have built up a reputation as a go-to person based on his ability to channel huge sums of money for production units instantly. The driver’s job was just a decoy to be around, investigators believe.
The police have found out that Suni had traveled to Dubai several times in 2013 and 2014 on fake passports.
More shockingly, the police have come across leads to suggest that Suni could be the Sunil Surendran wanted in Dubai for trafficking women from Kerala for flesh trade.
Suni had raised a gang of goons to rob rival hawala operators in Kerala, the police believe. The police had been searching for him in a case of pepper-spraying a bus passenger in Kottayam and robbing him of Rs 4 lakh.
The absconder, however, found a safe haven in movie sets where he hung out with celebrities.

Suni shot himself in the foot when he bit more than he could chew. He had tried to abduct at least three actresses earlier but his latest victim decided to fight back. The hardened criminal was picked by the police when he tried to sneak in to a court to surrender.
The police found out that he carried at least three fake passports when they alerted all airports to seal him off before the arrest.
Suni eventually led the investigators to actor Dileep, who is suspected to have planned the attack on the actress to settle scores. The duo started plotting the attack as early as 2013.
Suni has been sniffing at the heels of the actress ever since. Two previous attempts were failed but he managed to waylay the actress on February 17.
In his desperation in jail, he tried to contact Dileep through a couple of messengers. The messages suggest that the duo had more business together.
