Kottayam: Actor Dileep's family, who have been seeking all possible divine interventions to save him him from the legal hassle entangling him, has offered prayers at the Judjiyammavan kovil (Temple of Uncle Judge) at Cheruvally near Ponkunnam.
Dileep's brother Anoop and other close relatives visited the temple, famous for its deity who is believed to be a savior of innocent people entangled in legal procedures, on Tuesday evening.
The Kerala High Court will consider Dileep's bail plea on Thursday. Dileep, who was arrested in connection with the actress attack case on July 10, was denied bail by the Angamaly First Class Judicial Magistrate Court.
Anoop and his kin returned from the temple around 10.30 pm after offering special prayers and poojas.
The temple authorities said Anoop told them that Dileep will visit the temple once he gets bail.
Judge Uncle (Judjiyammavan in Malayalam) is one of the deities at the famous temple.
Legend has it that judge Govinda Pillai, an 18th century judge, sentenced himself to death after he realized that he had erroneously punished his nephew to death. After his death, the locals started worshiping him as a deity.
The famous personalities who visited the temple include cricketer Sreesanth and actress Lissy. The Travancore Devaswom Board had recently held special poojas in the temple to get a favorable verdict which would allow them to continue with the practice of barring women of menstrual age group from entering the Lord Ayyappa Temple in Sabarimala.
