With 48 criminal cases against her, Saritha sets a new record in Kerala Saritha's legal fight started from a case registered in Ettumanoor police station 2006. In Thiruvananthapuram city, there are eight cases where she is an accused and one that she is fighting as a plaintiff.

Thiruvananthapuram: Saritha Nair, the woman at the center of the solar scam, is an accused in 48 criminal cases. Besides, there are six cases where Saritha is the complainant.

Senior officers at the police headquarters have pointed out that Saritha is among the women who face the most number of criminal cases in Kerala.

A high-voltage political drama is being played out in Kerala after the release of the Solar Commission report. The report is solely based on a letter purportedly written by Saritha who is an accused in a large number of cases.

In most of these cases, Saritha is accused of siphoning of money from several people in the guise of solar projects. Well before the UDF government had set up a special investigation team to probe the solar scam, there were 12 cases registered against Saritha in several parts of the state.

After the SIT led by ADGP A Hemachandran started its probe, 33 more cases were registered against her. The six cases where Saritha is a complainant were also registered during this time.

Saritha's legal fight started from a case registered in Ettumanoor police station 2006. In Thiruvananthapuram city, there are eight cases where she is an accused and one that she is fighting as a plaintiff.

Here is a list of cities and the number of cases filed against her:

Kollam - two, Pathanamthitta - seven, Alappuzha - five, Idukki - four, Ernakulam city - eight, rural - three, Thrissur rural - two, Malappuram - two, Kozhikode city - two, rural - one, Kannur - two, Kozhikode - one.

At present, investigation is on in sex cases. One case each in Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam Rural and Alappuza has been marked as 'unprovable' in police records.

Among the six cases that Saritha has filed, one is against former MLA AP Abdullakutty for sexually abusing her. Others include a driver speaking inappropriately with her on mobile, another against a person for troubling her with missed calls, using her photograph along with KC Venugopal in a poster in Alappuzha, an attempt on her life using a car by four people, and misbehaviour by a person at a Thalasseri court.
