The Perinthalmanna revenue divisional officer had earlier recommended against the structures illegally built on ecologically fragile land.
Collector Amit Meena’s notice to raze the dam within 14 days will be served on the owner of the land on Monday. Anvar had transferred the land to a relative after the illegal constructions hit headlines. He owned the land when the check dam was built in June and July of 2015.
RDO Ajeesh Kunnath’s report, submitted Friday, pointed out that the check dam hampered the flow of water. The construction is in the Oorngattiri panchayat, whose officials have said that the dam was built without their permission.
The RDO’s report follows three reports from the forest department that the dam endangered the natural ecosystem in the area. Even the geology department has taken a stand against the construction.
