Thiruvananthapuram: Former chief minister Oommen Chandy has told the special investigation team (SIT) on the Solar scam that 'many people' had tried to blackmail him for refusing to divulge details of the meeting he had with Solar case accused Biju Radhakrishnan. He clarified that he was not targeted by a specific person.
Chandy has earlier told a media conference that one person had blackmailed him. The new deposition came in response to a plea filed by BJP leader K Surendran, seeking an inquiry into Chandy's earlier comment.
The investigation team led by DySP Shah Nawaz asked Chandy who blackmailed him and why. He replied that many people had tried to blackmail him. It was not an attempt by a single individual. Biju Radhakrishnan's family matters were discussed at the meeting with him in Kochi.
The police team met Chandy at his residence on Tuesday. They will record Surendran's statement now and, if necessary, will get back to Chandy again.
