Representational imageKalpetta: A woman was mauled to death by two pet dogs of a neighbor at Vythiri here Monday. Rajamma (65) of Ambedkar Charity colony at Vythiri was attacked by two dogs owned by one Karickal Jose. The woman was attacked by the animals when she was going to her work in the morning.
The dogs belong to the Rottweiler breed, known for their ferocious nature. Those who were accompanying Rajamma ran to safety as the dogs came running toward them.
Though Rajamma was rushed to Vythiri Taluk Hospital, she was referred to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, where she succumbed to injuries. Rajamma's husband Balraj had predeceased her.
The Vythiri police have registered a case against Jose on charges of culpable homicide and for keeping domestic animals, which can cause danger to others.
