Thiruvananthapuram: The number of students who sought admission in schools across the state without mentioning their caste and religious identities in the application form is a whopping 125,000. This was revealed by education minister C Raveendranath in the legislative assembly. They belong to 9,209 schools in Kerala, a report submitted by the minister revealed.
While 1.23 lakh students belong to Classes 1 to 10, 275 children are attending the first year of the higher secondary course and another 239 students are in the final year of the HSC.
Interestingly, all students enrolled in the Vocational Higher Secondary Schools in the state have mentioned their caste and religion in the application forms for admission.
