The police revealed that the accused had apologized to the actress on the phone. He was released on bail.Kozhikode: A youth has been arrested on charges of trying to abuse a young Malayalam movie actress who had arrived to inaugurate a jewellery outlet in Mukkam.
Actress Niki Gilrani was scheduled to inaugurate the outlet on Monday. But she could not attend as the event had to be rescheduled. The organizers then invited another young actress and an actor.
The police said Manu Arjun, 21, of Chelamkunnu Colony, tried to grab the actress as crowds thronged the event. They said he was drunk. He was arrested after the actress lodged a complaint with the police.
The police revealed that the accused had apologized to the actress on the phone. He was released on bail but has been charged under the Police Act.
CCTV visuals at the shop have been useful for the police. The actress alleged that the owners of the shop are answerable as they did not ensure proper security.
