Noida/New Delhi: The reported gang rape of a 25-year-old woman in a moving car in Noida area Friday evening turned out to be a hoax, with the woman giving in writing to the cops that the incident never took place, the police said on Saturday.
Noida rural superintendent of police (SP) Suniti told IANS that the woman gave in writing to the police that the 'incident' did not take place.
"We're looking into the reason why she made the rape allegation and will take action against her," the officer said.
The 25-year-old had Friday night claimed that she was abducted by two men in a Scorpio SUV near Noida's Golf Course Metro Station around 6.30 pm and was raped.
She had said that she was later dropped off near Akshardham temple in east Delhi.
The SP said that the Noida police had registered an FIR in the early hours of Saturday and later took the woman for medical examination to a hospital.
"At the hospital, an acquaintance joined her and they left without her undergoing the medical examination, saying they did not want a case," the SP said.
Later, the police called her again for medical examination.
"This time she allowed only external examination and not an internal examination," the officer said.
Suniti said the woman later accepted that the incident did not take place and gave the same in writing to the police.
