London: Eileen Ash, the oldest living former Test player, was the center of attention as she rung the five-minute bell at Lord's ahead of the ICC Women's World Cup final between hosts England and India, here on Sunday.

The 105-year-old vigorously rung the bell as players of both sides and the spectators cheered her on.

Ash played seven Tests for England between 1937 and 1949. She had the distinction of playing Test cricket both before and after the Second World War. She made her debut against Australia at Northampton in June, 1937, and played her last game against New Zealand in Auckland in March, 1949.

In 2011, she became the first woman Test player to live to 100 years old.

The ringing of the five-minute bell at Lord’s by an international cricketer, administrator or well-known enthusiast of the sport is a tradition introduced in 2007.
