Ranjith declared that he would legally fight to prove the truth behind the allegations raised by Bengali actor Sreelekha Mitra.
Ranjith communicated his decision to Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cheriyan, stating that he is unwilling to continue in the position in light of the allegations against him.
According to him, it was Ranjith who was particular to cast Sreelekha in his movie, unlike his claims that he had only met her for an audition.
Victims must file a complaint to seek probe over revelations in Hema committee report, he said.
He declared that Bengali actor should file complaint to take legal action against the director.

Asked about the allegation against senior filmmaker and Chalachithra Academy chairman Ranjith by Bengali actor Sreelekha Mitra, Urvashi said, 'a mature decision would be to step down and face probe.'
Following the release of the Hema Committee Report, Sathidevi had said that it was not possible to suo moto register cases as per the present legal provisions.
The actor said it is difficult for her to file a complaint in Kerala as she is in West Bengal now.
