TV reports said that the video purportedly shot with a mobile phone inside a police station was being circulated by claiming it to be the antics of the person in an inebriated state. The transgender was taken into custody three days ago. However, the sub-inspector at Alappuzha police station has denied the report and said the police have no link to the video. Assistant sub-inspector R Sreelatha was later suspended.
Taking note of the video, the transgender justice board has said that legal action would be initiated against those who circulated it. Board member Sheethal said that it was a clear violation of human rights.
Last year, an SI in Kozhikode was booked for allegedly assaulting two transgenders.
